In 1885 the order of precedence of the thirty-nine Regiments of Yeomanry Cavalry was fixed.

In 1894 the 2nd West York Regiment of Yeomanry Cavalry was disbanded.

All thirty-eight regiments and the two still existing regiments of Light Horse Volunteers sponsored companies of the Imperial Yeomanry battalions that served in the Second Boer War.
