At the outbreak of the second World War there were the 22 regiments from the 1922 reorganisation. They belonged either still to the Cavalry or were transferred to the Royal Armoured Corps. The Royal Tank Regiment was also part of the Royal Armoured Corps and it’s several tactical units were still seen as battalions of that Regiment.
