After the addition of the former East India Company regiments, there were 31 cavalry regiments. Three Household Cavalry regiments, seven regiments of Dragoon Guards (originaly known as Regiments of Horse) and 21 regiments of what originaly were Dragoons, but thirteen were now Hussars and five Lancers.
