The Territorial Force was an army for home defence and for the first time higher tactical formations
were created in the volunteer forces. There were fourteen Divisions, each of three
Infantry Brigades, each of four Battalions. Each Division also had four (three Field and one Howitzer)
Brigades of Royal Field Artillery, a Royal Engineers Company and several units of other services.
