In 1889 the volunteer artillery was attached to three large divisions.
Those corps that were designated as Volunteer Brigades reverted to their Artillery Volunteer Corps titles.
A number of corps showed their affiliation by adding a secondary title (...ern Division, Royal Artillery).

In 1891 the style of Artillery Volunteer Corps was changed to Volunteer Artillery Corps.

The Royal Artillery was in 1899 split in the Royal Field Artillery and the Royal Garrison Artillery.
The Volunteer Artillery Corps were transferred to the latter and those that had (...ern Division, Royal Artillery) changed that in (...ern Division, Royal Garrison Artiilery).

The three division system was abolished in 1902 and all corps were redesignated as e.g. 1st Sussex Royal Garrison Artillery (Volunteers).
