In 1901 the titles were shortened by leaving out the expression Regiment of. This would reduce most names to e.g. 10th Bombay Infantry, but as many regiments by now had names of a class of the population as secondary title, these were used in those cases. Thus e.g. the 10th (Jat) Regiment of Bengal Infantry became the 10th Jat Infantry.

These are the last titles before the creation of one list for the whole Indian Army in 1903.
